Rehearsals resume
ARBROATH Male Voice Choir will begin rehearsing for their forthcoming annual concert when they resume their regular practice evenings after the Christmas break on Monday (January 7) at 7.30 p.m. in Knox’s Church hall, Arbroath.
Choir president Dr Richard Irvine said: “This is our 79th year of making music and it’s an excellent and very exciting time to join the choir. We are currently looking for extra tenors and baritones to swell the ranks. We’re particularly keen to recruit those 30-somethings looking for a new challenge. You’ll be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.”
He gave reassurance to any potential members, “We don’t have a formal audition, but you must be enthusiastic to learn, willing to have fun and sing in tune!”
The Arbroath Male Voice Choir will appear at the Webster Memorial Theatre on March 22 with special guest, Margaret Keys.
Margaret Keys is an internationally recognised Irish classical-crossover soprano who has sung with Bryn Terfel and Alfie Boe. She has performed across the globe with various orchestras and groups in concert and musical theatre.
Competing in BBC show ‘How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?’ she worked with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber. Out of 6,000 entrants, Margaret made it down to the final cut and was awarded the BBC Fame Academy Award.
Tickets for the concert go on sale this week via the Webster Memorial Theatre box office priced £12.
