D’Ye Mind Lang Syne

Abbey Theatre presented ‘My Giddy Aunt’ by Ray Cooney and John Chapman in Arbroath’s ‘little theatre’ in January, 1981.

The show was produced by Carol King and the action took place in the drawing room and verandah of Lady Eppingham’s house in Janakpur, India.

Our picture shows the cast on stage with the finely designed and painted set. They are, from left - Jack Laing, Jackie Hurst, Evelyn Chaplain, Michael Christie, Gwen Williams, Brian Naylor and Neil Ritchie. In front is Ian Pert.

In the review of the day provided by James Crawford Milne, he said: “Abbey Theatre players ... not for the first time ... reached nothing short of professional standard.”
