A pair of veterans have hit upon a touching tribute to raise funds to buy a memorial bench for the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.

Fiona Laing, a former Wren and proprietor of Heather Cottage Crafts in Arbroath, has crafted a special bench which is to be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards the plan to buy an outdoors bench at Spean Bridge.

The bench also bears a poem by Robert Alan MacGregor Harris, former member of 45 Commando, who wrote it specifally for the project.

Bids will be accepted on the bench until 12noon Friday, March 31, the easiest way to do this is to call Fiona on 07763626508 or via the Heather Cottage Crafts Facebook page.
