Council celebrates 
top gardens 
in Angus

The high standard of the gardening was praised at the 2013 Angus Council garden awards ceremony last week.

On Friday Angus Provost Councillor Helen Oswald presented the awards at the Kirriemuir Town Hall.

Councillor Jeanette Gaul, vice-convener of neighbourhood services, said: “Once again our green fingered tenants have excelled themselves with colourful and 
imaginative garden displays this summer.

“As usual there was an outstanding level of entries for the awards and I thank every gardener who has put in a great deal of hard work to achieve success.

“In congratulating the well-deserved winners, I’d like to mention all our tenants who play their part in adding to the attractiveness of our towns and villages. Their pride in their gardens is to be commended.”

Trophy winners were: Director’s Special Award for most outstanding garden in Angus, Stewart Edward Cup – Frank and Margaret Craib, Winter Place, Carnoustie. Overall winner, Bill Roberton Trophy – George and 
Isobel Meldrum, Tyndall Crescent, Monifieth. Jim Millar Sustainable Trophy – Lachlan Forbes, Langlands Road, Forfar. Provost’s Quaich – Leslie and Williamina Cottrell, Thomas Street, Carnoustie.
