In March, 1970, Miss Isobel Forrester (centre), a weaver with Francis Webster & Sons Ltd, was chosen 'Flax Queen' at the Alma and Burnside Social Club's annual dinner and dance in the Cliffburn Hotel.
Runner-up was Miss Maria Murray (left) and Miss Patricia Henderson was third.
