Last week's picture of the Marine Ballroom in a transitional state as construction workers turn the building from a dance hall into flats, brought back happy memories of his time as a DJ there to Angus Nairn.

He supplied this picture of the Monday night discotheque dances from the late 1950s. Mr Nairn is on the right, and is accompanied by his assistant, his cousin, James Nairn. Other helpers were George Nairn and David Thompson.

Anyone else who has fond memories of the Marine from the 1950's, the heyday of dancing to bands, and the 1960s, is invited to jot them down and send them in to Arbroath Herald, 21 Market Place, Arbroath, DD11 1HR, or e-mail us on arbroath.herald@jnscotland.co.uk
