In April, 1970, the Friockheim branch of the British Legion honoured two long serving office-bearers at a ceremony in the Legion Hall, Gardyne Street.
William McPherson, who had been secretary for 13 years, was presented with an inscribed silver salver and George Cheyne, who had held the post of treasurer for nine years, received the Legion Gold Badge.

The presentations were made by Allan Nicoll, branch president, and the introductions were by Frank Stewart, branch chairman.

Pictured following the ceremony are, from left - Mr Cheyne, Mr Nicoll, Mr McPherson and Mr Stewart.
