Show for stricken centre

MEMBERS of an Arbroath family are doing their bit to help an animal sanctuary hit by robbery last week.

Mark and Eileen Masson and Colette Dear have arranged a Christmas concert tonight (Friday) in aid of the Mountains Animal Sanctuary.

The sanctuary, which cares for hundreds of animals, was broken into between 9.30 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, and 7.15 a.m., Monday, December 10.

Around £3,000 which had been raised at a Christmas event earlier that day was taken by the thieves, who also broke windows and doors and left taps running, flooding the property.

Mark said: “We were horrified to hear the sad news that happened to Mountains two weeks before Christmas. It does a wonderful job in looking after so many horses, ponies and donkeys and we knew we had to do something to help.

“To get people into the festive spirit we’ll be singing songs and Christmas carols in the church hall and everyone is welcome to join us.

“All we ask is that they pay a small donation of a £5 entrance fee which will help the charity recoup some of the funds that were stolen.”

The concert is at 7 p.m. in St John’s Church in Forfar.
