Asda cuts 2p off a litre of petrol

ASDA announced on Tuesday that it was cutting 2p a litre off the price of unleaded petrol.

From Wednesday morning drivers filling up at any of Asda’s 205 forecourts nationwide, including the recently opened self-service facility at Asda Arbroath, will benefit from the supermarket chain’s new national price cap, meaning motorists will pay no more than 129.7 pence per litre for unleaded and 137.7 pence per litre for diesel.

Andy Peake, petrol trading director said the retailer had reacted quickly to the latest reductions in wholesale costs and immediately passed the savings on to their customers. The move means Asda is the only petrol retailer to offer unleaded for under 130 ppl across all its sites.

Diesel remains at 137.7 pence per litre as wholesale costs remain the same.

Mr Peake went on: “Today’s move shows that Asda is once again leading the way in reducing the price at the pump. Unlike other retailers, our price cuts benefit everyone across the country, meaning that no-one filling up at Asda will be forced to play a postcode lottery.”
